Free Workshop - Governance and Financial Management – Red Ochre and Harrow in Business

Date: 4th October
Location: Harrow, London

Many organisations fail to access funding and support because they are unable to demonstrate that they have a clear understanding and control over what the organisation does and how it does it. Governance is a term used to demonstrate that the management has policies and procedures in place that ensures that the organisation’s vision and strategy are delivered and that it is done in the most effective and efficient way. Many organisations also find finance a particular challenge. However without sufficient understanding and control over finances and financial information in place the organisation is unlikely to survive.

This practical one-day workshop will use examples, discussion and exercises to create a good understanding of governance and finance, their importance and how to ensure that your procedures and policies are fit for purpose. The aim of the workshop is to support attendees to develop and be able to demonstrate sound management principles in order to secure funding and support, and create a healthy and robust organisation.

Workshop content

  • What is governance?
  • The practice rather than the theory
  • Why it is important to your organisation
  • How to use good governance to improve stakeholder engagement and funding
  • Getting to grips with numbers
  • How to create and manage budgets
  • Using financial information as a management tool

To book a place, please email Jenny Boxall, Enterprise Support Officer, Harrow in Business:

Negotiating Skills Workshop

Negotiating is something we all do; it is fundamental to business success. Yet very few of us have ever had any training and tend to learn the hard way, giving cash away needlessly.

Learn the rules and techniques of successful negotiators by attending this high intensity compressed programme that will
• Define negotiating and suggest when to use it

• Provide insights into the psychology of negotiating
• Provide the basic rules and strategies – the dos and don'ts
• Provide the opportunity to practice

The course has evolved over a period of 25 years of international business and this abridged version focuses on individual negotiating.

Red Ochre have a training session on negotiation skills listed on the BitC ARC website and if enough organisations register an interest by voting we will run the course.
