Spring 2014 brings good news for innovative SMEs!

The SME Instrument – the most complete funding programme for the European private sector in recent years is open.

The instrument is solely intended for European SMEs and is part of Horizon 2020 – the new Research and Innovation
funding programme of the European Commission for the new financial cycle 2014 – 2020.

Purpose

The programme addresses internationally orientated SMEs across different industries and supports the implementation of highly innovative ideas with  relevant market potential.

Support shall be given to projects with a European dimension, leading to  radical changes in their business sector, products, processes, services, marketing, etc).

Deadlines

The programme will run through successive opening of project calls for the phases 1- 2 every year during 2014- 2020. The project calls will be conducted as continuously open calls with different rounds/ application deadlines (cut-off dates) throughout every year. Successive calls for Phase 3 projects are expected in the period 2017-2020.

The 2014 project proposal calls for phases 1-2 opened simultaneously on 01.03.2014.

Deadlines for submitting the applications will be however different:

– For projects in Phase 1 – 06.18.2014 – 09.24.2014 – 12.17.2014
– For projects in Phase 2 – 10.09.2014 – 12.17.2014

The assessment of the applications will take about 2 months for phase 1 and 4 months for phase 2.

No conditionality between the two phases, i.e. SMEs can opt for direct applications in Phase 2, without previously benefiting from phase 1.
