Crowd Funding for Growth Workshop

Cost: Free

Where: Digital Greenwich, Mitre Passage, SE10 (near the O2 Arena)

When: 25th June 2015

Time: 9:30 am to 4:30 pm BST

Traditionally companies are funded through equity, debt and occasionally through grants. Crowd funding is an alternative form of funding that is growing in popularity as it becomes more widely understood. This interactive workshop will explore the pros and cons of crowd funding, how it works, and what types of SMEs it is best suited to. Case studies and examples, both successful and unsuccessful, are used throughout this interactive workshop. The first half of the day will explore theory and examples of successful and unsuccessful crowd funding campaigns. The afternoon session is set aside for delegates to prepare their own pitches, and deliver them to the assembled crowd for peer (crowd) critique.

Topics covered include:

  • The different sources and forms of crowd funding available
  • Identifying the right platform for your SME
  • Simple steps to increase your chances of raising funds
  • Pitching practice and feedback preparation
  • Taking practical next steps; choosing, planning, costing and launching your campaign.
