Postcard from Beijing Social Investor’s Bootcamp

It’s good to be here in Beijing sharing UK expertise and experience on practical management skills in preparation for social investment.

I’m at the British Council China’s Skills for Social Entreprenuers Project (SfSE) Social Investment Platform Bootcamp. Its purpose is to prepare 63 organisations and 114 delegates to pitch for social investment from a number of social impact investors on day three of this event.

Competition is high, as is expectation. The 63 organisations came through against a total of 268 aspiring social enterprises.

Some of the commercial supporters and investors include Innovate 99, More Love Foundation, Xinhu – Yu Venture Philanthropy Fund, Social Enterprise Research Centre, Dunhe Foundation and LGT Venture Philanthropy.

The process is still ongoing, so I can’t report on who has been successful, but I’ll keep you posted with decisions and learning from the event over then next few days.
